Time tracking is priced per user, so the useful number is not "from $X" but what your team will pay in seats over a year. We read each vendor's own US pricing page on October 27, 2026 and priced the same team: ten people, annual billing where the vendor offers it, list prices before promotions and taxes. Nothing here comes from a hands-on trial.

For whom: a small employer or agency budgeting time tracking for roughly ten people. Not for: a buyer who needs a negotiated enterprise price, or one comparing payroll costs; this is the tracker only.

Prices are the entry list prices each vendor publishes on its own US pricing page, read on Oct 27, 2026. They exclude taxes, payment processing unless stated, hardware, add-ons and negotiated discounts; a promotion appears only in the notes, labeled as one. Prices change. What ten people cost a year

TrackerEntry plan, as publishedTen people, one year

TimeeroBasic, $5 per user a month billed annually$600
WorkyardStarter, from $6 per user a month billed annuallyFrom $720

EverhourTeam, $8.50 per seat a month billed yearly, minimum 5 seats$1,020
Toggl TrackStarter, $9 per user a month billed annually$1,080

Time DoctorPrices not readable on its pricing page when we checkedNot compared

Harvest's pricing page also says additional invoices, projects, clients and tasks are billed by usage on Teams and Enterprise, so its totals are seat costs only. The arithmetic is the published unit price times ten users times twelve months; Buddy Punch adds its monthly base fee ($19 + 10 × $4.99, times twelve), and QuickBooks Time's base fee already includes one admin, so ten people are that admin plus nine users ($20 + 9 × $10 = $110 a month). QuickBooks Time showed a promotion that halves the base fee for three months only; we leave it out, as the vendor's terms apply it to the base fee and not to per-user fees. A QuickBooks Online subscription is required on top and is not included.

The price that matters: the first plan with approvals

An employer paying hourly staff usually needs a manager to approve timesheets before payroll. That feature sits on different tiers, and it changes the order:

TrackerFirst plan with timesheet approvalsTen people, one year
ClockifyStandard, $5.49 per seat a month billed annually$658.80
HarvestEnterprise, $14 per seat a month billed annually$1,680 in seats, plus usage charges
Toggl TrackPremium, $16 per user a month billed annually$1,920

We list only the three vendors whose pricing page states the tier for approvals; among those three, Clockify is the cheapest. For the other seven we did not establish the approval tier.

Our pick

Clockify. It is the cheapest published price at entry, and among the three trackers whose approval tier we could read it stays the cheapest once approvals are needed, so the budget does not jump when the team grows into a real payroll process.

  • Pick Buddy Punch instead if you want a punch clock for hourly staff more than a project timer; at ten people its total ($826.80) sits above Clockify, Timeero and Workyard but below Everhour, Toggl Track, Harvest and QuickBooks Time.
  • Pick QuickBooks Time instead only if you already pay for QuickBooks Online and want hours to land there without another connector; it is the most expensive line in this table.
  • Pick Harvest or Toggl Track instead for client billing and project time where approvals are not the bottleneck.

Whatever you buy, keep the records the FLSA requires (hours each day and each workweek for non-exempt employees); a cheaper plan that cannot export them is not cheaper. For free plans, see free time tracking software.
